“Magen David”, the Shield of David, is more than one of the most recognized symbols of the Jewish people. It represents protection, responsibility, and identity. A shield exists to protect something precious, and that idea is central to who we are.

This is not just a place for a minyan. It is a community built around Torah, values, and a commitment to doing what is right.

The name also honors the memory of one of our founders’ brother, David ז״ל, who was killed while serving as an IDF officer in Chevron. He stood as a true Magen David, protecting the ability of Jews to live, walk, and daven in one of our holiest places.

“West” reflects where we are, and who we are.

“ליבי במזרח ואנכי בסוף מערב” — My heart is in the East while I am at the edge of the West.

Even from Las Vegas, we see ourselves as deeply connected to Eretz Yisrael and to Klal Yisrael. We are part of that shared story and carry a sense of love, responsibility, and belonging to something far greater than ourselves.

Magen David West was created with the intention of building a community together—not for the community, but with it. We are committed to transparency, thoughtful leadership, and shared responsibility as we grow.

Our goal is to create a structure that is both inclusive and sustainable—where community members feel a sense of ownership and participation, and where decisions are made with care for the long-term future of the kehilla. As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to responsible stewardship of resources and transparency in how the community grows.

We are currently davening in a temporary space while we search for a permanent home that can properly serve the full kehilla. This process is actively underway, and we are working toward a space that reflects the needs and values of the community.
